LITERATURE FOR A LIFETIME
Literature for a Lifetime offers adults throughout the state an opportunity to come together to discuss great books, share ideas and opinions and explore the many relationships between life and literature. The programs are offered in partnership with libraries, senior centers and other community organizations. Literature for a Lifetime discussions combine a group of related readings with four, 90 minute discussion sessions spaced two or three weeks apart depending on the length and difficulty of the readings. A humanities scholar leads each series. Each program in the series builds on the last, and the scholar provides continuity and focus, as well as expert guidance, throughout the series. Participants borrow the books from the host organization and complete the assigned reading prior to each discussion. The Humanities Council offers cost sharing grants to offset program costs to our partners and supplies all of the basic components needed to run a successful program including:
Hosts may also borrow book discussion materials and books for a small fee to run a program on their own. For more information, please email us or call 860.685.7590. Catalogs and Forms
